STORY SUMMARY:
RENO, Nev. (July 31, 2007) — Tadd Fujikawa, a 16-year-old
from Hawaii, will make his professional debut at the PGA TOUR’s
Reno-Tahoe Open. Fujikawa made national headlines in 2006 when
he became the youngest golfer to qualify for the U.S. Open since
1941. In January he tied for 20th place at the Sony Open in
Hawaii and in February became the Hawaii Pearl Open’s
first amateur winner since 1992.
The ninth annual PGA TOUR’S Reno-Tahoe
Open, taking place at Montrêux Golf and Country Club July
30 –Aug. 5, is an opportunity to watch some of the world’s
best golfers make history in Reno. In addition to Fujikawa,
2006 Reno-Tahoe Open defending champion Will Mackenzie and PGA
TOUR winners Rich Beem, Steve Elkington and Corey Pavin highlight
the field of 132 professionals competing for a $3 million purse
during the PGA TOUR’s only summer West Coast stop.
