SUPPORTING
COPY: Skiers and snowboarders are finding mid-winter snow conditions
on the mountain at Squaw Valley USA this week. Recent snowfall, over
three feet on the upper mountain as of January 26th, provided a welcome
boost, and cold temperatures are keeping the snow in superb shape, providing
an optimal mid-winter snow surface.
The National
Weather Service in Reno, NV. is forecasting more new snow leading in
to the coming weekend.
Squaw
Valley USA is 100% open, with a base snow depth of up to four feet,
and 28 lifts scheduled over the coming weekend. Squaw Valley also offers
mountain-top dining, night skiing and ice skating nightly at High Camp,
the expansive upper mountain guest complex at elevation 8200'.
This weekend,
Feb 6-8, Squaw Valley kicks off the countdown to next season's 50th
Anniversary of the 1960 Olympic Winter Games, with "Raising the
Rings", a three-day series of events, parties, and activities focused
on Squaw Valley and North Lake Tahoe's Olympic Heritage.
Festivities kick off Friday at the Resort at Squaw Creek's Sandy's Pub
with a 1960's Retro Dance Party at 9pm and continue at the new on-mountain
restaurant, The Arc, on Saturday at 2:30pm with a Wine Tasting Social.
The highlight of the weekend is an Evening with Jonny Moseley on Saturday
night at PlumpJack Conference Center at 6:30pm with cocktails, silent
and live auctions and a festive dinner. The gala weekend caps off Sunday
morning with an Alpine Breakfast at 7pm and a unique opportunity for
first tracks on the mountain!
