SUPPORTING
COPY: Squaw Valley USA has received over eight feet of new
snow in the month of February and with blue skies returning this week,
the skiing and snowboarding is the best of the season.
Squaw
Valley USA is 100% open, with fresh and packed powder conditions and
4000 acres of skiable terrain, including the sought-after Silverado
canyon area, which opened Wednesday with untracked powder conditions.
Squaw
Valley USA also recently opened a new attraction, the brand new Ice
Bar at High Camp, the resort's expansive upper mountain guest complex
at elevation 8200'. The Ice Bar is an outdoor bar made entirely out
of ice - over 15,000 pounds of it - serving fresh signature drinks,
ice cold beer and barbecue items to skiers and snowboarders. The bar
is is constructed with 48 350-lb ice blocks and took 15 workers 4 days
to build during storm conditions. It was carved with chain saws, chisels,
Japanese carving saws and nail board grinders. It includes two shot
luges, a grill and DJ's on weekends. The Ice Bar is Squaw Valley's newest
addition for mountain-top dining, featuring incomparable views of the
mountain and Lake Tahoe. Dinner and apres-ski dining, night skiing and
ice skating are also available.
