SUMMARY: (North Lake Tahoe, CA. – January 12, 2010) –
Northstar-at-Tahoe™ Resort held a mock race and demonstration
of biathlon events at their new Biathlon Range on January 10th as part
of the North Lake Tahoe Olympic Heritage Celebration.

North Lake Tahoe's Olympic Heritage Celebration, underway January 8-17,
commemorates the 50th anniversary of the 1960 VIII Olympic Winter Games
held in Squaw Valley and Tahoma, in North Lake Tahoe. The ten-day series
of events inlcudes races, historic tours and reenactments, demonstrations,
expos, parties, and more.
History
of Biathlon Mock Race & Demonstration - January 10th.
Olympic Biathletes and others gathered on Sunday, January 10th to participate
in a mock biathlon race and expo held on the brand new Biathlon Range
at Northstar-at-Tahoe™.
Athletes
provided a brief overview of the sport and then participated in a four
lap, 1k race on the new Biathlon Range.
Participating
athletes included:
- Glenn Jobe, a team member of the US Biathlon World Championship Team
in 1978 and 1979, a US Biathlon Olympic Team member at Lake Placid in
1980 and he won the 1981 National Biathlon 20km.
- Biborka Xantus, a member of the Romanian Olympic Biathlon Team from
1994 to 2000.
The Auburn
Ski Club Association and their associated biathlon club provided officiating
and assistance with the event.
