SUMMARY: [Squaw Valley USA] January 13, 2010 – Keeping
with the series of well-timed storms established earlier this season,
Squaw Valley USA received up to 20" of fresh snow Tuesday and Wednesday,
setting the stage for excellent ski and snowboard conditions over the
coming three-day Martin Luther King Jr. holiday weekend.

Tuesday morning, and snow levels fell throughout the day. Total snow
accumulations by Wednesday morning were up to 20".
To date this season, Squaw Valley USA has received over 182 inches or
over 15 feet of snow.
This December’s 127 inches snowfall total made it the snowiest
December since 2001. Current base depths measure 40-70” at elevation
8,000 ft (Squaw’s peak elevation is 9050 ft). Squaw Valley is
100% open and in full operation daily.
Forecasts
are calling for a break in the storms through Saturday, allowing for
smooth travel to start the holiday weekend.

Squaw
Valley USA is celebrating two major anniversaries this season - the
60th anniversary of its founding and first season, in 1949-50, as well
as the 50th anniversary of the Eighth Olympic Winter Games, which were
held at Squaw Valley in February, 1960. The Olympic Heritage Celebration
is underway from January 8-17, 2010, at Squaw Valley USA and locations
around the North Lake Tahoe region. The celebration concludes this weekend
with a variety of Olympic-themed events, including a Giant Slalom "Olympic
Legends" Race, a Saturday night "Olympic Legends" Gala,
and a figure skating demonstration.
