STORY SUMMARY: [Squaw Valley USA] January 19, 2010 – The second wave in an ongoing series of winter storms has left over 2 feet of fresh snow at Squaw Valley USA. Recurring storm waves are forecast to continue for the next several days, delivering several feet of additional snow andsetting up the resort with exceptional conditions into the core of the season ahead.

SUPPORTING RELEASE COPY: [Squaw Valley USA, Olympic Valley, CA.] The second in a series of strong winter storms has added another two feet of fresh snow to the slopes of Squaw Valley USA. As of noon, Tuesday, the 24-hour snowfall total was over 28" and snow was falling at over an inch per hour.

Forecasters are calling for the series of storm fronts to continue for the next several days, bringing several more feet of snow to the mountain, and providing skiers and snowboarders with exceptional powder conditions day after day.

  • To date this season, Squaw Valley USA has received over 208 inches or over 17 feet of snow. This December’s 127 inches snowfall total made it the snowiest December since 2001.
  • Current base depths measure 60-80” at elevation 8,000 ft (Squaw’s peak elevation is 9050 ft).
  • Squaw Valley is 100% open and in full operation daily.
