STORY SUMMARY: [Squaw Valley USA] February 17, 2010 – The sun continues to shine as Squaw Valley USA witnesses another gorgeous bluebird day. With temperatures dropping each night, the snow remains fresh and chalky with pockets of powder around the mountain. Forecasts are also calling for winter to return this weekend as another snowstorm arrives.

Forecasts are also calling for winter to return this weekend as another snowstorm arrives.

To compliment the incredible weather, Squaw Valley is also hosting Kid-O-Rama, a week-long extravaganza for kids and families. Last night, huge trucks rolled into the Village for Big Truck Night, and tonight the Village comes alive once again for the Fountain Court Street Party. The Street Party will feature a concert by local kids’ sensation Todd Wees in addition to face-painting and activities for the whole family.

CONDITIONS

  • To date this season, Squaw Valley USA has received over 298” or over 24 feet of snow on the upper mountain.
  • Current base depths measure 96-106” on the upper elevations.
  • Squaw Valley is 100% open, offering skiers and riders the most terrain (4,000 acres) and best lift access (uphill capacity 49,000/hr) in Lake Tahoe.

UPCOMING EVENTS

  • • Kid-O-Rama continues tonight with the Fountain Court Street Party in the Village featuring kids activities, face-painting and a concert by renowned children’s performer Todd Wees of Truckee, CA. The Street Party runs 2pm to 4pm.
  • Thursday night, Night Tubing kicks off at Squaw Valley USA with a Hot Chocolate and S’mores party at the Papoose Discovery Center. The Hot Chocolate and S’mores Party will run from 4:30pm to 6pm with Night Tubing running until 8pm.
  • Friday, Kid-O-Rama continues with a Costume Skating Party at High Camp, el, 8200’. Guests can bring their own costumes or pick from Squaw’s costume bin. 2pm to 3pm at the Olympic Ice Pavillion.
  • Saturday night, Todd Wees is back for a FREE Kids’ Concert complete with a pizza party, face-painting and balloon animals. 4:30pm to 6pm at Olympic Village Lodge (OVL).
