Suggested copy to run with footage: Visitors to the North Lake Tahoe region can ski and snowboard through May thanks to a record snow pack with more than 450 inches of snow falling in some areas and ski resorts’ extending their closing dates.

It’s spring skiing at its best, and skiers and snowboarders are soaking up the Lake Tahoe sunshine while hitting the slopes and taking part in some of the area’s most wacky and wild on-mountain events.

On April 5, guests at Diamond Peak and Mt. Rose – Ski Tahoe create high-flying dummies made of cardboard, metal and other objects of every shape and size and send them off big jumps as part of the resorts’ Dummy Downhill events. Prizes are awarded for best runs.

At Squaw Valley USA, taking a ski break means lounging and sunbathing by the resort’s Swimming Lagoon & Spa – all at 8,200 feet.
