BROADCAST VIDEO FOOTAGE AVAILABLE - Preview and download broadcast quality MPEG 2 b-roll footage (AVAILABLE NOW) at http://www.tahoemediacenter.com.

STORY SUMMARY: (NORTH LAKE TAHOE, California/Nevada) – River rafting on the Truckee River has officially opened and summer fun is in full swing in North Lake Tahoe.

FOOTAGE DESCRIPTION: Footage includes shots of rafts and rafters on the Truckee river, taken June 30, 2008, plus soundbites (see below).

SUGGESTED COPY: Rafting season is underway as the gates of the Tahoe City Dam are open, releasing water from Lake Tahoe into the Truckee River and allowing commercial raft companies to recently open for business. Each summer, thousands of visitors make the popular three-mile float from Tahoe City to River Ranch Lodge at the base of Alpine Meadows Road, where lunch is served on the patio.

But rafting isn’t the only way to get wet. North Lake Tahoe also offers kayaking and canoeing on the country’s largest alpine lake, cruises aboard 50-foot sailboats and giant Mississippi sternwheelers, along with wake boarding and fishing charters.

Lake Tahoe was recently recognized as the #1 U.S. travel destination by TripAdvisor for 2008 (#10 in the world), and the #1 destination by Orbitz users for winter 2007-2008.
