STORY
SUMMARY:
Artown enters its lucky 13th season in Reno, Nev. this July,
transforming the neon-clad city into a summer hub of cultural
entertainment and what the National Endowment for the Arts calls
one of the most comprehensive art festivals in the country.
For the entire month of July, Artown provides cultural activities
and art together with the area’s extraordinary outdoor
recreation and 24-hour gaming and entertainment. The contrast
of art and the outdoors is unlike anything else found nationally
and entices more than 350,000 attendees to the festival each
summer.
This year’s Artown agenda includes renowned artists such
as Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis July
5, Tony and Emmy Award winner Mandy Patinkin with Paul Ford
on Piano July 15 and multi-instrumentalist Andrew Bird July
16. A number of Festival favorites return including the “Food
for the Soul” World Music Series, Movies in the Park,
the Rollin’ on the River music series, the Monday Night
Family Series and the Discover the Arts children’s series.
