SUGGESTED COPY: Squaw Valley USA welcomed holiday visitors with an official ribbon-cutting ceremony for the popular Shirley Lake Express lift which was recently upgraded from a four-passenger to a high-speed, six-passenger chairlift. The new Dopplemayr lift offers a faster and more comfortable ride, and its heavy chairs allow the lift to operate in more extreme weather conditions, offering access to some of the resort’s most popular terrain when the old lift would have been closed. During the ceremony, guests were served Shirley Temple's at the top terminal of the lift.

The recent pre-holiday storms that brought over three feet of new snow to the Sierra have allowed Squaw Valley to operate twenty-six lifts accessing top-to-bottom skiing and riding for visitors of all abilities. Forecasters are calling for snow showers possible all week leading up to the New Year.
